Forgot I had one of these

Totally forgot I have a Tumblr, so I may or may not start using it again.   Just a quick update; the Summer of 2011 sucks, no job….yeah I’ve tried, minimum amounts of cash, no bro’s to throwdown with.  I miss college, or at least the environment of college.  I need Sigma Chi in my life obviously to function correctly lol.  But the only good news i’ve gotten besides the fact i’m still alive, I got tickets to Uproar Festival in September.  Very psyched!  That would also be why I have no money at the moment lol.  It’ll be well worth it come September 25th though, as any rock show with A7X is gonna be fun in my opinion.  So that’s life right now, just trying to find a good time whenever I can until late August rolls around, then i’ll be back to fully functioning and not laying around all day.

Just a thought.

Sometimes I hate being so quick to give my opinion, because being right has so many consequences.  People don’t like to hear the truth or be given advice these days, it’s quite obvious.  As hard as it is, I think i’m fixing to make a rough attempt at keeping my opinion to myself, that way i’m not stuck blogging on tumblr :P

Pointfest

So this weekend I attended Pointfest 27. 29 bands 29 bucks. Real rockstars wear Aviators. Until you stand outside the V.I.P entrance…..you just don’t get the full idea of how many and how hot groupies are. Jagermeister lei was my souvenir, the spokespeople handed it off to me when they had one too many…..I also got a pick :D . St. louis, Missouri had to of had the worst weather ever…..it was so hot, no shade, and very humid. So here’s a couple notes about the show.

<br />- Me, Brad, and Hunter are getting to be veterans of rock shows and we always do it big, we show up early and put alot of work into being as close as possible. 7:30 we were in Maryland Heights and first in line at our gate to enter. We also were also front row of the side stage for about 4 hours until dehydration, exhaustion, and the possibility of a heat stroke occured.

<br />-After that first statement I have to make this one. 100+ degree weather, no shade, humidity, 5 dollar bottled water, only one liter of water allowed in, and only 2 re-fill stations with warm water don’t mix.

<br />-Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre needs a new p.a. system…..I say this because most of the main stage bands were kinda overpowered by bass and drums to hear the singer, so if you didn’t know a song…..don’t expect to learn it. But if the band had that distinct singer like M. Shadows or Corey Taylor at times they’re overpowering vocals would be met by squeals from the speakers…..fix that.

<br />-Chicks must be really comfortable with random guys these days because to crowd-surf as a female…..poking and prodding is an understatement. But Pointfest could possibly break a record for crowd-surfers….just saying.

<br />-As for the side stage bands, My Darkest Days was the dark horse…..tuly just a group of crazy rockstars it was so awesome, I enjoyed their set and knew none of it but the two bands previous to them were kinda meh that these guys woke the crowd up, it was awesome. A couple bands later we were treated to Red Line Chemistry…..fail. Not because they completely sucked but because when Hunter asked for the lead singers bottle of water, he refused and claimed it was his vodka. Lies. Funny moment though.

<br />-Unfortunately I didnt get to be down there participating in 10 years and Halestorms sets which both sounded amazing but forunately I didn’t force myself down there for Cavo who I hyped to be awesome only to be very severely letdown…..their lead singer was awful and their setlist was very poor (Word of Advice: Play your hits….we like those). Some chicks while I was still in the front asked if they could have our spots just for Cavo as they were huge fans….I was like no im a huge fan…..and they told me their mom was best friends with the band…..I explained to them I smoked pot with the band (I lied like the RLC lead singer lol)……they shut up then, but we ended up giving it to em. Halfway through Ludo we were some troopers and marched down the hill in the scorching sun and as soon as we got down there….they played “Whipped Cream,” EPIC. Still not sure how they got to be the final act of their side stage….i’m guessing St. Louis worships them as their version of Weezer? But then to cap off the side stages we had Sick Puppies (Second time seeing them) who were forced to be the final act of the side stage while the crowd complained at the fact some band name HURT got the opening for the main stage (their lead singer played violin btw). Sick Puppies took this in stride though and basically brought the whole Pointfest crowd to the side stage and rocked some faces. Great set that the fans definately apreciated….they celebrated by carrying the lead singer to the merch tent from the stage as he gave an open autograph session and meet and greet. Good guy….liked em better when they were given much more time the first time I seen them.

<br />-As for the main stage….thanks Hurt I needed that break to sit and cool off :) .

<br />-Flyleafs lead singer Lacey is gonna have my kids, good gosh. Great set and their bass player jumped and spinning heel kicked off everything. Such an energetic performance in all honesty, and Lacey can really belt out some screaming vocals quite well. Impressive but they encored with Cassie and that was dissapointing as I feel “I’m So Sick” is such a staple encore song for them.

<br />-Puddle of Mudd was the next band on the line-up and it was my second time seeing them, I told Brad before they came on stage that it truly depended on how drugged out Wes was if they sucked or not……he was pretty drugged out but he kept it together to give one heck of a performance. Lol the roadie had to take his guitar on and off of him if that tells you how high he was, also after every song he thanked us, told us who they were, and proceded to say goodbye. This happened a minimum of 6 times at least. I don’t care if their labeled “mainstream garbage,” this band is such an entertaining live band.

<br />-As for Stone Sour I don’t have much to say besides Corey Taylor is a god among men and should be recognized as such. 30-30-150 is so intense live. They played their best and even gave the live crowd alot of their newest, which i’m really excited for.

<br />-Nightmareeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee….I waited to hear the xylophone to this song all night. I have no care for anyones opinion of them besides my own, just amazing. Their set-up, pyro, fireworks, and stage presence was amazing. Mike Portnoy is a legend and did the Rev so much justice. Nothing was more awesome than a whole crowd pointing their fingers in the air when The Revs vocals were played for Critcal Acclaim. We also got the same set-up they’re doing for UPROAR tour early and it was so cool from start to finish. Me, Hunter, and Brad had rocked all day……but even though we were dead by the time they hit the stage we put about another couple of liters of sweat into this one. So worth it.

Are all guys really bad?

Good question but really is being stuck on dudes who find tapout clothing and flat bills to be exhilarating the real problem?
